Portals
I think of you on rainy nights,
when cars use my street as a shortcut to I-90 E
their steeled bodies slinging shadows,
unfocusing the streetlights’ shine
to the puddles on the pavement,
my portals to another world
one that could be dystopian or utopian,
always day or always night,
zero speed or light speed,
those details are not as important as
being bound to each other,
particles with fixed positions, momentum
our main principle not uncertainty
but devotion, entanglement
our hearts’ pull stronger than gravity
in this infinite orbit
I feel you as a part of me, as a part of everything
