One Crystal Morning
One crystal morning I happened upon a garden of
blushing roses veiled in sparkling dew. Your smile
came to mind. And I wondered if I had sufficient
promise to pen words of honor and adoration in
your name. Nearby in an autumn orchard, I paused
to consider fresh aromas of peach and recalled intimate
moments we once shared. And in a lane along a white
picket fence I encountered a tiny hummingbird engaged
in careful inspection of a profusion of bluebonnets and
I reflected on the strength of his wee heart. And at once
I longed to be a shadow in your dreams full of affection,
abiding trust, and eternal love.
