Beginning with Goodbye
Here it is New Year’s Day
and Chicago, Illinois is on its way
to being winter white
and i am on my way
to falling in love again
but first i have to say goodbye to you in the snow
i have never seen bigger flakes
i had never kissed your lips
i have never been more torn
for some reason i would give you anything
for some reason i needed you to leave
and missed you like hell
before you even went
nothing makes sense
but at least on New Year’s Day
in Chicago, Illinois
the snowflakes were huge
falling on and all around us
and what i needed to happen, did
our first kiss was goodbye
for now at least
but in my heart i knew
i was falling too
beginning with goodbye
